Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information WeHold LLC ("WeHold," "we," "us") collects through the WeHold website at weholdllc.com and the WeHold apps for web, iPhone and Android (together, the "Service"), and how we use it. The short version: WeHold is built to work without an account, and we do not sell your personal information.
Information that stays on your device
When you choose your congressional district or ZIP code, or answer the stance questions, WeHold saves those choices in your browser or app's local storage so they are there the next time you open it. This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. You can erase it at any time with the "Clear my answers" button or by clearing your browser or app data.
Information we collect
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to fix any problem you report.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically processes standard technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the Service and protect it from abuse. We do not use this information to identify you or build a profile of you.
- ZIP code lookups. When you look up officials by ZIP code, the ZIP code may be sent to our servers or to a public data service only to return the matching officials. It is not linked to your identity or stored with any personal information.
We do not currently use advertising, ad tracking, or third-party analytics in the Service. We do not require or offer user accounts.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above to run and improve the Service, answer your questions and corrections, keep the Service secure, and meet our legal obligations.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may share information only:
- with service providers that host or deliver the Service for us, such as our web host, under terms that limit their use of it;
- if required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public or WeHold;
- as part of a merger, sale or transfer of WeHold's business, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
Links to other sites
WeHold links to official sources such as senate.gov, clerk.house.gov and congress.gov. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.
App store purchases
If WeHold offers paid features through the Apple App Store or Google Play, those payments are processed by Apple or Google under their privacy policies. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Children
WeHold is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and retention
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we handle. We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and keep normal business records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You can use WeHold without giving us any personal information. You can clear your saved answers at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Email us to make a request, and we will respond within the time the law requires.
New features
If we add features that collect more information, such as sending a message to your elected officials, we will update this policy before those features launch and explain what is collected and why.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will give notice in the Service.
